Can we add jQuery in Shopify checkout page to make phone number in the billing address required?

Hi,

We are on Shopify’s basic plan and aware that we cannot customize theme beyond cartpage on this plan. Since there is a box for additional scripts in the checkout section under Shopify settings, I want to know if it really is possible.
