Can you accept only bank transfers at checkout on Shopify?

Topic summary

A merchant wants to accept only bank transfers at checkout to allow for custom shipping quotes before processing orders. They also ask if it’s possible to hide credit card payment options from the checkout and cart pages.

Solution provided:

  • Deactivate Shopify Payments through Settings > Payments > Manage > Deactivate Shopify Payments
  • Enable only the “Bank Deposit” manual payment method
  • This configuration allows checkout to proceed with bank transfer as the sole payment option

Alternative approaches mentioned:

  • Using Stripe for bank transfers (supports JPY, GBP, EUR, MXN, and USD transfers in respective regions)
  • Third-party app “Easy Pie Shopify Stripe Checkout” with Stripe Radar rules for ACH payments

Related concern raised:
One participant reports being scammed three times with fraudulent chargebacks, where customers received items but banks refunded them anyway. The suggestion is to use Stripe Radar and only deliver orders once payment status shows as “Paid.”

Hi, there!

You should be able to offer only bank transfer at checkout.

If you have a payment provider like Shopify Payments enabled and attempt to deselect all payment methods within the settings, you’ll see an error message that reads You must add a payment method to your account. To remove all of these options, you will need to deactivate Shopify Payments by following these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Payments
  2. Click Manage next to Shopify Payments
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the red Deactivate Shopify Payments button

I tried this out in my test store (enabling the “Bank Deposit” manual payment method and deactivating Shopify Payments), and I was able to get through to the Payment stage of the checkout where I only saw the Bank Deposit option. Let me know if this works for you.

If you have a Stripe account here is the solution for Bank transfers and many payment methods supported your Stripe account >> https://lnkd.in/diJN5YcB

  • JPY bank transfers in Japan
  • GBP bank transfers in the UK
  • EUR bank transfers in SEPA countries
  • MXN bank transfers in Mexico
  • USD bank transfers in the US

Did you manage to set up your bank transfer option at check out.

Unfortunately, I’ve been scammed three times in the past two months with my stamped vintage china products. The bank refunded the customer, who received the items, and I’ve been scammed again today.

Try the third party solution Easy↭Pie Shopify Stripe Checkout, enable Stripe Radar rules for ACH payments and deliver the order when the payment status is Paid.
