Can you get a refund from a closed store?

I have purchased something from a merchant. About a month later the merchant posted on social media that Shopify locked their store and they are not able to retrieve the funds to do a refund. They also stated that refunds will automatically be returned from Shopify after 30 days (it has been 30 days).

I cannot open a support ticket because the URL for the store is no longer valid and it will not let me proceed with case creation.

Does Shopify hold funds when an online store is closed?

Your best bet is to file a chargeback with your credit card company.

I think as much as this is happening a class action lawsuit against Shopify is the best resolution. My bank and everyone else’s eating shopifys mistake is not a viable option . You backed the store and promote it it’s your problem. I’ve read no less than 300 complaints for this exact reason. Mine was in the $2000 range so that’s felony theft and Shopify can be sued and will be soon. You also will join these closed businesses and become one yourself for screwing us all around and stealing our money. Social media here I come
