I’m very sorry that after registering “my store” with Shopify and going through the steps to complete the registration process, I discovered that there were difficulties that I could not overcome in order to become a seller on Shopify. so I would like to cancel my account soon to avoid future problems. If you would like to close your account, the fastest way to do it is to log into it and follow the steps below.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
- Click Deactivate store.
- If applicable, then review the options to switch to the Pause and build plan, or start a new store.
- If you still want to deactivate, then click Deactivate store.
- Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
- Enter your password, and then click Deactivate now.
This closes the store, however, your information will be kept for 2 years, in case you decide to reactivate your store in the future. If you wish to have your information completely deleted from our system, you may get in touch with our support team for assistance. You can refer to the guide below to do this.
- Visit our Help Center.
- Chat with the AI assistant and enter “account concern.”
- Click Chat with a Support Advisor as shown on this screenshot.

For reference, the settings page is the icon that looks like a gear icon. From there you should be able to follow the steps outlined by Moira. However, feel free to share a screenshot of what you see on your end and we can go from there.
