Canceled All My Connections to Shopify

I have canceled all of my connections to Shopify. Shopify is automatically enrolling shop owners into fees and services without clear consent or authorization. In Canada, the Competition Bureau states that promoting a price that consumers cannot actually obtain because of mandatory added fees is against the law, except for government-imposed charges. The Competition Act further states that a price made unattainable by fixed obligatory charges or fees is a “false or misleading representation.” I encourage other shop owners who believe they were affected to report Shopify to the Competition Bureau of Canada and the Better Business Bureau in Canada.

Of course your government exempts themselves from the law lol. Just curious but what charges are “unattainable” and were without consent or authorization?

Makes me wonder how they define “unattainable”… if I sign up for college, but I cannot afford the fees, does that mean the college is illegally dropping my classes? Fascinating country, Canada lol

unattainable

Translation: “Unattainable” means the advertised price is not the real price you can actually get. If Shopify shows one price but adds a fixed mandatory fee later, then that first price was never really available. They are not allowed to do that.
