Cannot Filter nor Create Collection based upon new Product Category (was Standard Product Type)

I think the annotated screenshots below speak 1000 words, but I’ll write a few any how.

After the 2022-10 update… features related to Standard Product Type that I had designed my catalog around no longer function.

If you’re not already aware, the 2022-10 update converted Standard Product Type => Product Category and converted Custom Product Type => Product Type. Data was migrated under these new labels.

So that’s fine, I like the new labeling system.

Problem is, Product Category (aka Standard Product Type) is the PRIMARY first level categorization feature for products, yet is it not available as a Filter in the Admin, nor as a condition in Automatic Collections!

My Collection configuration as seen below used to work, because previously, the Product Type collection condition had a logic where it would first match Custom Type, and then if not defined, would match Standard Product Type.

This logic has been removed, and no Product Category option has been put in its place!

What a ridiculous oversight!

Echoing this, this update completely messed up the architecture of multiple builds. This does not just add new data fields, it changes data and is a ridiculous stunt to pull!
