Cannot launch new products because metafields are broken — am I the only one?

So yesterday I was adding some new products to my store that we’re looking to launch tomorrow. However, we discovered that after adding the 17 metafields required for our products to accurately fill out the product pages on our website, they weren’t saving.

Every time we entered the metafield data and hit save, the green save button would persist and if we navigated away all changes would be lost.

This issue seems to coincide with Shopify launching metafields for collections.

Does anyone else have this issue? I reached out to Shopify support but their answer was, “I am escalating it so our developers look at what the issue is. We will be in touch” which obviously doesn’t help me since we have a planned product launch which we’ve already marketed on our social media.

Am I the only one with this issue (I cannot see anyone else complaining) and if so, is there a secret hidden way that I can add metafield data to products without using the broken UI at the moment?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Rosalind.

Hi @OliviaMichaelCo

Could you try this using a different browser or alternatively via Incognito/Private mode? Let us know!

The Shopify support staff had the same issue as us when trying to change the metafields so it’s not isolated to my browser. I surely cannot be the only one with this issue? Maybe I am…

Is there not a database/file I can access to manually update these records until a fix?

@JHKCreate

Weird, I tried on Brave and it worked. I guess it’s a Safari issue and Shopify support use Safari as well. I can now add these metafields, you’ve saved the day! Thank you.
