Can't delete rejected items from Facebook Shop

Topic summary

Issue: Merchants integrating Facebook Shop via Shopify cannot delete rejected products; the “Delete” button is disabled.

Context: Facebook’s commerce policies (e.g., no digital downloads, restrictions on images showing too much skin) determine product eligibility. Shopify cannot override Facebook decisions within the Facebook sales channel.

Guidance shared:

  • Appeal rejections through Facebook Business tools by requesting a review for specific catalog items.
  • Use Facebook Shop Manager to archive products (hides them from the shop when deletion isn’t possible).

Additional reports: A shop was rejected due to product imagery, and attempts to delete the shop or manually control visible products are blocked. Facebook support responses have been generic and not actionable.

Status: Unresolved. Merchants remain unable to delete rejected items, and direct resolution within Shopify is not available.

Action items and considerations:

  • File product-level appeals and adjust product content (e.g., imagery) to meet Facebook policy.
  • Archive problematic products in Facebook Shop Manager.
  • Continue engaging Facebook support; Shopify cannot change Facebook’s catalog controls.

When I set up my shop from Spotify on Facebook I didn’t know you couldn’t sell digital downloads. I have other physical products I would like to sell, but I cannot delete the items from the Facebook shop. The “delete” button is grayed out.

Regards your concern to delete rejected item from Facebooks shop and sorry to hear you’re having a hard time with Facebook’s product policies.

As these are set and applied by Facebook then Shopify would not have any control over this from here in Shopify.

What you can do though (if you haven’t already) is to reach out to Facebook to see if you can appeal any decision made on your products there.

There’s info here on the Facebook Business site on how you can request a review of a rejected item in your product catalog.

Check it out and see if you can put those steps in place to review a given product that has been rejected by Facebook.

Also you can archive the product in Facebook Shop Manager too

I am having this same issue and it is driving me crazy. My shop was rejected due to product images showing too much skin. I am trying to delete the shop and manually customize which products are shown within the shop however the delete button is grayed out for me as well. When i reach out to facebook they give generic trouble shooting that does not help at all. Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated.
