Can't enter store via shopify app (Error http 418)

Topic summary

Mobile users report being able to log in but getting “HttpStatusCode418 – client error” when opening their selected store in the Shopify app. Screenshots show the error and an App Store notice about downloading an older compatible version.

Support recommends standard troubleshooting: reboot device, reinstall app, update to the latest app and OS, switch networks, and disable pop-up blockers/firewalls. They clarify minimum requirements: iOS 13.6+ and Shopify app version 9.50.0. There is no workaround beyond using the last compatible version on older devices.

One user on an iPad Air (iOS 12.5.5) confirms the device is too old for the current app; Shopify POS (Point of Sale) still works, but they plan to replace the device for a second register.

Another user reports being fully updated yet still getting kicked out and unable to use POS, indicating an unresolved issue. Discussion remains open without a universal fix.

Hey @HawaiianPieCo !

Thanks for hopping on this thread. Sorry to hear you’re experiencing the same issue.

It looks like you’re running an outdated client either mobile OS, or app version. You need to update your mobile device and your app as per the requirements in our help docs here.

The last supported version for our app is 13.6 and the iOS app version is 9.50.0 - there would be no alternative workaround for this, however you can still use last compatible version.

Let me know if you have any questions!
