After auto-translating it successfully, I am now editing the auto-translated text as it is far from ideal. I am having two issues: 1/ I dont see where to edit all the content that was translated. The sections offered in the app are not the complete set. Many pieces of content are missing. 2/ any edits made and saved, are not all reflected on the published site.
Hi @tropx
I see you’re dealing with two main issues after auto-translating your Shopify store content: (1) missing sections that you can’t find to edit, and (2) saved edits not updating properly on the live site. Let’s break these down and get them fixed.
Issue 1: Missing Translated Content Sections
This usually happens due to limitations in the Shopify translation app you’re using. Some apps only allow editing specific sections, leaving out dynamic content like product descriptions, checkout pages, or certain theme-based text. Here’s what you can do:
- Check the Theme Editor: Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize, then look for any untranslated sections in the theme settings. Some translations are theme-dependent and might need manual input.
- Use Shopify’s Translations API: If your theme or apps don’t show all translatable content, the API can help. You can check missing fields via Admin API – Translations.
- Try a Different Translation App: Some apps (like Langify) might provide more control over content visibility. If your current app isn’t showing everything, switching might be an option.
Issue 2: Edits Not Updating on Live Site
If you’re making changes but they aren’t reflected on your store, a few things could be causing this:
- Cache Issues: Try clearing your browser cache or opening your site in an incognito window. Shopify sometimes holds onto old versions.
- Theme Conflicts: If you’ve manually edited the theme code, it might override app-based translations. Check Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit Code, especially in Locales (for translation files).
- App Sync Delay: Some translation apps take time to update changes. Try republishing or refreshing the app’s settings.
- Shopify’s Default Language Settings: If your default store language differs from your target translation language, edits might not show as expected. Check Settings > Languages to confirm everything aligns.
Try these steps and see if they help. If the issue persists, let me know which translation app you’re using, and I’ll guide you through specific solutions.
If you need any other assistance, feel free to ask, and I will try my best to support you.
Best regards,
Daisy.
