Anyone know how to set a shopping profile for a bundle created with the Shopify Bundle app? The bundle doesn’t come up in the product list. It’s charging $30 in shipping for a low weight bundle (7 lbs).
Topic summary
Users are unable to assign shipping profiles to bundles created with Shopify’s native Bundle app, as these bundles don’t appear in the product selection list for shipping profiles. This causes incorrect shipping calculations—one user reports $30 shipping charges for a 7-pound bundle.
Root cause: Shopify’s Bundle app creates virtual products that calculate shipping based on individual component products rather than the bundle itself.
Proposed workarounds:
- Adjust individual product weights and create custom shipping profiles for component products
- Use flat-rate shipping rules based on order weight/price
- Consider third-party apps like Advanced Shipping Rules or Better Shipping
Limitations identified:
- Assigning component products to new shipping profiles affects both bundles and individual items, preventing differentiated shipping (e.g., free shipping on bundles only)
- Some users resort to creating manual bundle products without the Bundle app to maintain control
Alternative solution: The Bundle Sync app allows assigning bundle components to existing variants, treating bundles as normal products while maintaining native checkout display. The issue remains unresolved for users wanting to use Shopify’s native Bundle app with custom shipping profiles.
We have the same issue, we create some bundles using Shopify Native app, and the bundle product doesn’t appear as a selectable product on the shipping profile, where other bundles created with 3rd party apps, they are well displaying.
Can someone from @Shopify_77 help on that !
Hi @mycelus
To set a shipping profile for a bundle created with the Shopify Bundle app, here’s what you need to know and do:
Why the Bundle Doesn’t Appear in the Product List
The Shopify Bundle app creates bundles as a virtual product that doesn’t always register as a “normal” product in your admin product list. This can cause issues when trying to assign it to a specific shipping profile.
Fixing the Shipping Profile Issue
Since the bundle is likely linked to individual products in the bundle, Shopify calculates shipping based on those products’ settings. Here’s a step-by-step solution:
1-Check Individual Product Weights:
- Go to Products in your Shopify admin.
- Review the weight of each product in the bundle.
- If any product has an incorrect weight, adjust it to reflect a more realistic value.
2-Update Shipping Profiles:
- Go to Settings > Shipping and Delivery in your Shopify admin.
- Create a custom shipping profile specifically for bundles.
- Add the individual products that make up the bundle to this profile.
3-Adjust Bundle Shipping Behavior (if available):
- Some Shopify apps allow custom settings for bundles. Check the app’s settings to see if you can override default shipping calculations for the bundle. Look for an option like “Set custom shipping for bundles.”
4-Override with a Flat Shipping Rate:
- If the bundle’s shipping still calculates too high, consider using a flat rate for orders that include the bundle. You can set this up in the custom shipping profile:
- Select the shipping zone where you want to apply the rate.
- Add a condition based on order weight or order price to include the bundle’s estimated total.
5-Use a Third-Party App:
- If Shopify’s built-in tools can’t meet your needs, apps like Advanced Shipping Rules or Better Shipping can provide more control over bundle-specific shipping.
Why the Issue Happens
Shipping rates are often calculated per item or by weight. When bundles are virtual and don’t show in the product list, Shopify defaults to adding up the weights or shipping rates of the individual items in the bundle. This can lead to inflated shipping costs, especially if weights are misconfigured.
If these steps don’t solve the problem, reply here with specifics (like the shipping profile settings or app details), and I can help troubleshoot further!

This doesn’t help, because it assigns all products (including the individual items) to the new shipping profile. We have the same issue! We want to offer free shipping on bundles but not on single items. This should really not be a problem for a ecom platform in 2025! Since we don’t track inventory and our bundles don’t depend on that we just created bundles manually (as new products) without the use of the bundle app.
Hi
The Shopify app just creates new bundles but you can utilize the new native bundle creation by using our Bundle Sync app that allows you to assign bundle components to existing variants. This way the bundles are just normal products and you can manage them that way rather than being restricted on the way Shopify app only creates new bundles from scratch. They also will show the components during checkout exactly the same way as the Shopify bundle app does.
The only limitation is you can only add components to variants.
If you decide to test it out and have any issues with shipping profiles just message us.
