Case study: How we set up a service agency site on Shopify

Hi everyone,

Shopify can also work well for service based businesses, although the setup is different from a traditional product store.

For a service agency, some approaches that can help are:

  • Replace Add to Cart: Use enquiry forms, consultation requests, or booking links where a traditional checkout isn’t appropriate.

  • Structure Services Clearly: Retainer packages, consultations, and one-time projects can be presented as service offerings with clear descriptions and pricing where applicable.

  • Optimize Performance: Keep custom sections and apps lightweight, especially on portfolio and service pages.

We recently applied a simillar approach while working on a service-based agency website. if anyone is intrested in seeing an example of how we structure it, you can take a look at Webgarh.

For those offering services through Shopify, what setup or apps have worked best for handling enquiries, consultations or bookings?

Hi @Anshul_Sandal

I also prefer a customized approach for service-based Shopify stores. For enquiries and consultations, you can use dedicated forms or booking systems, while paid services can be set up as Shopify products with checkout.

For performance, it’s better to load booking apps and custom scripts only on the pages where they’re actually needed. The ideal setup depends on whether the business mainly needs enquiries, bookings, upfront payments, or recurring services.
