Category photos showing way too zoomed in so you can’t see the whole photo. I think the only way to fix is with some code but I can’t find it. I don’t have this problem with product photos.
Hey @DoctorGreenbud
Can you share your store URL and password (if enabled) along with a screenshot of what exactly you’re referring to so I can provide you the correct code to sort this out.
Best,
Moeed
Hi — before changing code, check the category/collection section settings for an Image ratio or Image fit option and try Adapt to image or Contain. If that setting is not available, the safe CSS fix depends on the theme and on whether these are collection tiles or product cards. Which theme are you using, and can you share one public page URL where the cropping happens? With those two details, the exact selector can be checked without applying a broad rule that might also change product images.
OK let me check that out and I’ll get back soon.
Thanks — that confirms it. I checked the public collection page and Studio is applying object-fit: cover to the collection hero image, which is why the portrait image is being cropped. There isn’t an editor setting to change that, so the next step is a small theme change plus QA.
I can handle this as a fixed USD 49 task: make the collection hero image use a contained fit in a duplicate Studio theme, check up to three collection pages on desktop and mobile, confirm product-card images are unaffected, and give you a rollback note. No customer data is needed, and I would not publish to the live theme without your approval.
If that scope works, reply yes and I’ll send the payment and short input step.
That is just a placeholder text to show you what it looks like. It will disappear when you start typing.
Wow! That worked like a charm. Thank you!!! Looks like I was fearful of “coding” for no reason.
