Change Item Line Price for Individual Item POS

Topic summary

  • Request to directly change the selling price of an individual POS (Point of Sale) line item at the till, instead of applying a discount.
  • Current behavior: the system applies a discount off the RRP (recommended retail price) rather than letting staff set a new final price, requiring manual difference calculations.
  • Example: RRP £69.95; desired price £32.16; necessitates calculating a £37.79 discount. This occurs frequently for staff discounts or damaged items.
  • Constraint: Seeks a built-in, simple workflow without external apps or custom JavaScript.
  • Ask: Is there a native way to re-price a single line item to a custom amount, or must staff continue calculating and applying discount amounts?
  • Status: No solution or confirmation yet; the question remains open, and the poster wonders if a setting has been missed.

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if it’s possible to change the selling price of a line item to a custom amount at the till.

At present, if we want to change the selling price of a single item with an RRP of £69.95 to, say, £32.16 (e.g. a custom price for staff discount or to mark something as damaged), the discount amount is applied as an amount taken off, rather than simply changing the price of the item to what we want the new price to be. We make several one-off item price changes in our store currently.

Rather than having to calculate the difference to take off (£37.79) the item as a discount, it would be much easier for our staff to simply re-price the individual item to £32.16. So far I cannot see any solutions which don’t require external apps/JavaScript for what should be a very simple process. Have I missed something here, or do we need to also work out the discount amount to apply going forwards? Thanks in advance.
