Platform constraints: Editing checkout fields is not supported on standard Shopify; requires Shopify Plus.
Earlier outcome: Support was able to hide the two fields upon request as a workaround.
Latest update: With the new checkout, Shopify can no longer hide these fields. They remain standard checkout fields and are not accessible via Shopify extension, which is viewed as a significant regression for the Italian market.
Status: No current pathway to rename or enforce mandatory status for these fields on non-Plus plans, and hiding them is no longer possible under the new checkout. The thread remains unresolved; potential workarounds or official guidance for the new checkout are not provided.
Seems that now with the new checkout, even Shopify itself it’s not able to hide those fields for you.
Quite embarrassing.
They are still part of the standard checkout fields so they are not “reachable” with shopify extension.
For the italian market this sound like a HUGE regression.
