Change link of "Add to cart" to finish de purchase on a clone Shopify Website

Topic summary

Goal: Make the “Add to Cart” button redirect customers from a catalog site to a second (clone) Shopify site—either to its product page or directly to its cart—to complete the purchase.

Proposed approach: Use a Shopify metafield to store the destination URL and modify the button click to redirect to that URL instead of adding to cart. Metafields are custom fields that can be attached to products to hold extra data like links.

Context: The merchant manages multiple brands; one brand wants a dedicated country-specific site, while the merchant wants all transactions finalized on their main site.

Complexity and support: The solution is described as easy. No technical steps, code, or theme edits were provided in-thread; an offer for direct assistance was made.

Status: Unresolved/ongoing. Key next step is implementing the metafield-driven redirect in the theme. No media or attachments are central to understanding.

Hello,

What I want to do is to change the link of the “Add to Cart” button for it to transfer directly to cart page or product page of a Clone Shopify Website.

I want to use 1 website as a catalog and if a customer enters and wants to finish the sale, on click then is redirected to finish it on the other site.

Thank you a lot in advance :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @mjochagavia ,

Yes it’s possible you can enable metafield and use it’s value to redirect.
But I’m curious and want to know why you want to do this?

Thanks Guleria,

We work with several brands, where one of them wants us to have a site just for them in our country, but we are interested in ensuring that our customers’ purchases continue to be made on our website.

The solution is easy or something very extensive to do? Maybe I should find someone to do it for me?

Solution is easy and if you want you can contact me.
