We recently obtained the Theme Paper and when zooming to a product photo it is not possible to do a controlled zoom, since it zooms in full screen and with the mouse always in the middle no matter where it is placed and not in the sector that you want to zoom in. How can we correct this problem or error to be able to zoom in on the desired location?
Topic summary
-
Main issue: In Shopify’s Paper theme, zooming a product image opens a full-screen view that always centers the zoom, ignoring the cursor position. The user wants a controlled, cursor- or region-based zoom that magnifies the specific area under the pointer.
-
Impact/context: This behavior makes it difficult to inspect particular details of product photos and reduces usability for detailed viewing.
-
Requested guidance: How to adjust settings or modify the theme (e.g., change the zoom mode/implementation) so zoom focuses on the desired location rather than defaulting to the center.
-
Materials provided: Only a description of the behavior; no code snippets, screenshots, device/browser details, or theme version info. Product images are central to understanding the issue.
-
Status/outcome: No responses or solutions yet. The discussion remains open with the question unresolved.
