Changing the cost price of product, what are the consequences for Shopify profit calculations?

I sell 10 products in my shop at $10 with a cost price (that I filled in the admin product page) of $4: profit calculated by Shopify is then $60.

Now I change the cost price to $5 and sell another 10 items at $10, the profit on these sales total $50

Is the total profit calculated by Shopify equal to $110 (which is correct), or does Shopify only calculate total profit with the latest cost price for the items sold and thus coming up with $100?

Cheers, Eelco

Hello @Eelco99 ,

We are OneCommerce - an eCommerce Solution Platform.

In your example, the first 10 products sold at a cost price of $4 would have a total revenue of $100 and a total cost of $40, resulting in a profit of $60. The next 10 products sold at a cost price of $5 would have a total revenue of $100 and a total cost of $50, resulting in a profit of $50. When you add these two profit values together, you get a total profit of $110.

We have an app called TrueProfit, it can help you calculate every cost and track your profit in real-time. You can find more about us here .

Hope this can help.

Regards,

OneCommerce team.
