Hello, is it possible for someone to help me edit my homepage H1 title via code? I want the H1 to be the rich text box which currently states “Your Destination for Homeware, Furniture & Storage Solutions”
My site speed is also showing signs of improvement but I’m not sure where to start with this - any help appreciated.
Find the section of code that corresponds to the H1 title. This might be indicated by the
tags or a specific class or ID assigned to the element.
I have checked your site in the Google Page Insights tool. There is a low score on your website. It needs to be improved, especially on mobile devices.
Below are some factors that might impact the speed of your online store, and how you can address them.
We’ve had the best success for our clients by working with our developers to implement the lazy sizes because it’s quite complicated for non-technical people.
You need to work on the following points:
Theme Upgrade if there is a scope and upgraded theme available
Reduce JS Payload.
Use Critical CSS.
Reduce Large Image Sizes
Migrate Tracking Codes To Google Tag Manager
Compress Images
Limit Third-Party JavaScript & Shopify Apps
Preload Web Fonts. (I suggest limiting it to one and using a standard web font)
By fixing these issues, your website speed score can definitely improve.
If anything needs to be included or clarified then feel free to ask. We will surely help you.
Thank you so much, I’ve managed to fix the H1 header issue. I’m certain I could address the other points in time but with a newborn baby, it’s proving relatively hard to find the time to research and implement fixes. I’ll check the fonts I’ve used as that’ll be a quick win but the other speed issue sounds a little technical for me.
May have to possibly look at hiring someone to help
For optimizing your site speed, there are several works that you can perform:
Compress images: Reduce the file size of your images without compromising quality. You can use tools like Kraken.io or TinyPNG to compress your images before uploading them to your Shopify store.
Minify CSS and Javascript: Remove any unnecessary white spaces, comments, or line breaks from your CSS and JavaScript files. Minification reduces file sizes and improves load times. Shopify automatically handles this for you, so you don’t need to make any manual changes.
Enable caching: Leverage browser caching to store static files on visitors’ browsers. This way, when someone revisits your site, the browser doesn’t need to download all the resources again. Shopify handles caching automatically, so no additional configuration is needed.
Use a content delivery network: Consider using a CDN to deliver your site’s static assets, such as images, CSS, and JavaScript. A CDN stores copies of your files on servers in different regions, reducing the distance between the user and the server and improving load times.
Evaluate apps and scripts: Review the apps and scripts installed on your store. Some apps or scripts might be slowing down your site. Disable or remove any unnecessary or poorly optimized ones.
Remember to test your site speed after implementing these changes to see the improvements. Shopify also provides built-in performance reporting in the dashboard, which can help you identify specific areas that need optimization.
We hope this guidance helps! If you have any further questions, feel free to ask us anytime.
Regarding your site speed, it is encouraging that you are already seeing improvements. To keep that momentum going, focus on three high-impact areas.
First, audit your installed apps and remove any that you are not actively using, as their scripts can slow down your site even if the app is disabled. Second, ensure all your homepage images are compressed and converted to WebP format, which offers much better quality at smaller file sizes.
Finally, for a more automated approach, our team at SearchPie: SEO, Speed and Schema focuses on these exact issues. We provide tools that automatically handle image compression, code minification, and deep Schema integration to help your site load faster and be understood better by search engines.
