Changing theme default background color for all pages

Hi guys, i am trying to change the theme default background color from white to offwhite (#FDFBF9) for all pages. The theme i am using is Dawn. I am not being able to change the default white to gel with the different sections background color

You can apply a color on body

Yes, you can add this in the theme.liquid

please remember any update must be done in a duplicate theme instead of live theme.
