Changing wording of 'custom discount' on checkout page

Hi there,

Is there any way to change the wording of the label “custom discount” on the checkout page?
This isn’t a discount that i generate myself with a coupon code or something like that.
I’m using the b2b app SparkLayer with has a quantity pricing functionality. SparkLayer essentially applies a “line item discount” behind the scenes. When this arrives into Shopify, it is then treated as a standard discount when viewing an order.

This discount shows up as "custom discount’ on the checkout page. Well, actually it shows up as “aangepaste korting” because the main language of my shop is dutch. I run 2 other languages on the site (German and English), but on each language the checkout page shows the dutch term.

So, 2 questions:

  1. How can i change the wording of the label “Aangepaste korting (custom discount)”?

  2. How can i add translations for this term?

I’ve already tried editing the theme content. It doesn’t work, or it’s not the right string.

Thanks,
Karin

Hi @lamiseto ,

You can change title of discoun.

  1. Go go Admin → discount → Aangepaste korting

  1. Update " Aangepaste korting " to your text

Thanks for your reply!

The discount is not being generated by a discount code i’ve created myself, so it’s not in the discount list at the place you mention.

Thanks though!

Hi,

I think you should contact this app to they guide you update. All apps will have the document to guide. Hope you can resolve this issue.

Hi there,

Yes, i’ve already reached to them but they say they can’t change it, because it’s Shopify’s content…

Thanks for your help!

Hi Lamiseto,

I’m from SparkLayer and would like to say this is possible via changing the theme language strings for the checkout. If you search for “custom discount” in the Theme content editor this affects it.

Thanks

Hi there!
Thanks for your reply :slightly_smiling_face:
I’ve already tried editing the theme content but it doesn’t work unfortunately.
You guys have access to my shop if you want to give it a try yourself!

Kind regards,
Karin

Hi there @lamiseto ,

Just checking if you already have a solution for this? Wanting to do the same to change the ‘Custom Discount’ label.

Kind Regards,

Riz

Hi Riz,

No unfortunately it seems impossible to change this ??‍ :female_sign:
I’ve reached out to so many support teams, none of them were able to help me, so i’ve just accepted it

If you ever do find a solution, i would love to know!

Kind regards,
Karin

You could try going to the Theme Content (Online Store > Themes > Select “…” of the theme you want to edit > Edit default theme content > Checkout & system > Checkout order summary > Custom discount)
