Charged for an unknown POS subscription.

When I opened my Shopify store, they suggested setting up a POS system. At that time, I was unaware it was a paid service. I have not used the service or received any sales through it. However, I am being charged for a service I did not use or knowingly subscribe to, and I still have not received a refund. It’s charge is more then my monthly sale.

Shopify scammed there new customers by don’t informing them POS is a paid service.

Hi @Aditya2

It sounds like you unintentionally subscribed to Shopify POS without realizing it was a paid service, and now you’re stuck with unexpected charges. I completely get how frustrating that is—nobody wants to pay for something they never used or knowingly signed up for. Let’s break this down and figure out what you can do.

Why This Happened:

When setting up a Shopify store, Shopify may prompt you to enable POS (Point of Sale) as part of the onboarding flow. However, while the basic Shopify POS app is free, POS Pro is a paid upgrade that comes with a 30-day free trial—after which you start getting charged unless you cancel. If you didn’t opt out before the trial ended, Shopify automatically billed you for the service.

How to Fix This:#### 1-Check Your Billing Statement- Go to Settings > Billing in your Shopify admin to review your invoices.

  • Look for charges labeled POS Pro or something similar.

2-Cancel Shopify POS Pro (If Still Active)- In your Shopify admin, go to Point of Sale > Locations.

  • Select the location where POS Pro is enabled.
  • Under the POS subscription section, switch from POS Pro to POS Lite (which is free).

3-Request a Refund

Since you didn’t knowingly subscribe, you should contact Shopify Support and explain the situation. Here’s how:

  • Visit Shopify Help Center and log in.
  • Click on Contact Support and start a live chat or email them.
  • Be clear and direct about your case:
  • You were unaware POS Pro was a paid service.
  • You have never used it for any sales.
  • The charges were unexpected and exceeded your store’s revenue.
  • You want a refund.

4-Important:

Refunds are not guaranteed, but if it’s your first-time charge and you genuinely didn’t realize the subscription, Shopify may refund as a goodwill gesture—especially if you contact them quickly.

Preventing This in the Future:- Always review the pricing page before enabling new Shopify features.

  • Set up email notifications for billing changes. Go to Settings > Notifications and ensure you receive billing emails.

I know this situation is frustrating, but Shopify Support is your best bet for resolving it. If you need help navigating the support process, feel free to reply, and I’ll do my best to assist you.

Best regards,
