I am experiencing a critical UX/validation issue on my Shopify checkout page when a customer switches the delivery method to Store Pickup (“Afhalen”).
The Issue: When a user selects “Afhalen”, a nearby store location is suggested underneath, but it isn’t automatically selected. If the user scrolls down and clicks the “Nu betalen” (Pay now) button, the checkout fails silently.
The button briefly changes to “Verwerken…” (Processing…) for a split second, and then just reverts back to “Nu betalen”. No error message or validation warning is displayed to the user, leaving them stuck on the page with no idea what went wrong.
Steps to reproduce:

Go to the checkout page.

Switch the delivery option from “Verzenden” (Shipping) to “Afhalen” (Pickup).

A store location appears as a suggestion, but the main location field remains unselected.

Scroll down and click “Nu betalen”.

The button flashes “Verwerken…” and reverts. No red error text appears, and the page does not auto-scroll to the missing field.
Expected behavior: If a location selection is required, Shopify should throw a visible validation error (e.g., “Please select a pickup location”) and ideally scroll the user back up to that field so they know what to fix.

Has anyone encountered this silent validation failure before? Is there a known liquid/JS fix or a setting I missed to force the error message to display?
