Hi, i only have dutch as my main language and also have dutch installed as checkout language. However, the checkout keeps loading in english and even the following steps and conformation mail are in english. The locale=en is automatically loaded when someone goes to the checkout, but i don’t even have the English language installed. Can someone help me with this?
Topic summary
A user is experiencing an issue where their Shopify checkout page loads in English despite having only Dutch configured as both the main language and checkout language. The checkout automatically defaults to locale=en, and confirmation emails are also sent in English, even though English is not installed.
Suggested troubleshooting steps:
- Verify primary language settings under Settings > Languages
- Confirm Dutch is set as default and remove English if present
- Navigate to Settings > Checkout and ensure Dutch is selected as the customer contact language
- Save settings and test the checkout page to verify it displays in Dutch
The issue remains unresolved pending the user’s testing of these configuration changes.
Hi @FrisoPi
1- Double-check the primary language by going to Settings > Languages.
2- Make sure Dutch is set as the default language, and remove English if it’s present in the list.
Then:
1- Go to Settings > Checkout and accounts.
2- Scroll down to Customer contact language and ensure that Dutch is selected as the checkout language.
3- Save the settings and then test the checkout page to see if it’s now in Dutch.
Hope that helps!
