very new to shopify . In trial mode at the time of writing . Am in learning phase , I want to test a checkout using some manual payment method like COD , but getting this screen after i click checkout in view cart. Where am I wrong? or it is in trial mode/ no plan mode so checkout is disable . Kindly suggest . Thanks in advance

Welcome to Shopify! The reason you see the error message is that your store is still on a free trial without a selected plan. Shopify completely disables the checkout screen from processing any orders until you pick a monthly subscription plan. Even if you just want to test a manual method like Cash on Delivery (COD), the system keeps the checkout locked down until a plan is attached to the account.
To fix this and run your test, simply go to your Shopify Admin settings and choose a plan, such as the Basic plan. Do not worry about being billed early because Shopify will not charge your card until your free trial days fully expire. Once you pick a plan, that error screen will instantly disappear, and you can test your COD checkout smoothly.

You need to pick a plan for the setting you’re doing, or are you just testing it?
I will buy in future , for now i am getting accustomed with it , just playing around for now . let me have an idea about shopify minus the checkout and then will go for a plan , probably with the lowest one first
Shopify checkout does not work without a paid plan. If your store is on a free trial and you haven’t picked a plan, your online store will be password-protected.
Even if a customer gets to your cart page, they will not be able to complete a purchase or access the checkout screen until you select a subscription plan and open the store to the public.

You can keep testing the theme, products, and cart during the trial, but checkout testing is the part that needs a plan attached. After choosing a plan, leave the storefront password-protected and run one small COD test order before making the store public.

If you are on a trial store, checkout is available for testing, but some checkout functionality may be restricted due to your configuration. Be sure you have created a valid shipping rate and enabled a manual payment method such as Cash on Delivery at Settings > Payments. Also, ensure that the product is enabled for the Online Store sales channel and has a shipping profile attached. If these are not set, you may have your checkout sits not loading when you try to checkout on it.
