Chnage owner of my site to a limited company

I started my store as a personal project. Now I have formed a company and wish to have that listed as the store owner - not me. This is for billing, VAT, date privacy, etc.

How can I do this? Do I need to transfer to the new company - can’t I just update something in ‘Manage Account’

Cheers

Hi there @RobbyC You will find all the steps you need to follow to change the owner of your store to a company in this official Shopify guide here https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/organization-settings/users/ownership-transfer

Hello @RobbyC ,

When you set up your store as a personal project, your account details are tied to your personal info. You can update a lot of your business info under Settings > General (like your store name, address, and contact details), but if you want your new company to be listed as the store owner for billing, VAT, and legal purposes, you’ll likely need to transfer ownership of the account.

In short, you can’t simply update a field in “Manage Account” to switch from personal to company ownership. You’ll need to contact Shopify Support to help you with transferring the account ownership details to your new company. They’ll guide you through any required documentation and steps to get that updated.

Hope that clears things up—good luck with your new company!
