We need to have our search results display a product image in the search results other than the default image. We want the last image in our Product Gallery to be image that the search results show rather than the default (first) image in the gallery.
Some background: the image we need to be displayed is a custom design that appears on various products, each of which is a variant. We need to have the design image to appear last in the image gallery, or perhaps not to appear at all since it is on every product/variant.

It is not possible for you to set an image for a product that will display for search results, as typically search engines will just display the default image you’ve set for your product. This be something that could potentially be achieved via some custom coding in your theme’s HTML, as per the discussion here.
However, please bear in mind that this is not something that would be supported by Shopify so we would not be able to assist with this directly. If you do want to attempt this, I would recommend creating a backup of your theme in case the changes you make have undesired affects. You can also look at hiring a Shopify Expert to see if this is something that can be done.
