Trying to use CLI for first time.
When CLI hands me off to login via browser, the browser says I’ve successfully logged into the CLI but the CLI throws an error that I’m not authorised to use the CLI for the provided store. Screenshot attached.
I have 4 dev stores, and 1 live store (my own) on a paid plan but I get the same message no matter which I try to sync with the CLI - I am the store owner in all cases.
Have tied logging out and clearing cache in CLI before running theme dev command again - same result.
Had some buggy behaviour logging into my own store - not sure if that’s related - when logging into partner dashboard and selected my own store I get prompted with message that must sign in directly via admin as its no longer a dev store. When i click the login button on this message it redirects me to the login page of a 3rd party app install on the store. When I uninstalled the add the button now directs me corrected but CLI behaves the same.
I have the same username and password for my partner account and my own store admin…and use 3rd party (“google” signin)…would that have an impact maybe?
Any help would be amazing as I’m feeling really dumb and going in circles at this point
Hi thanks for your help. Installed via terminal in vs code - here’s screenshot with the current versions of shopify and other requirements
I don’t see node.js unless it’s bundled with npm. If it’s not that, I’m not sure. The only time I had an issue was when I did an install on new computer and for some reason didn’t install git.
Oh sorry should have included node to be super clear - the latest version of node.js is installed too. I’ve been running git, node/npm etc on other projects fine.
I’m not an auth expert but wish I had tried the CLI before pushing one of my dev stores as my own website. As my same login credentials are used to log in into my partner account and the admin as the merchant for my live store. I’m not sure how Shopify manage the auth flow for partners/merchants …from my reading of the doc’s it shouldn’t matter, as I am the store owner in all cases - any merchant could use the CLI for their own store.

Ahh I just read you use third party login. That was the other issue I had, I had to start a ticket. And they verified that was the issue. It was not supported. This was about a year and a half ago. May still not be supported. Also I now have same login credentials for my partner account and store account. No issues.
