Clicking media does not change product pills

Running ride theme. No coding changes on product pages.

I am not happy that when you click on a media (alt variants below main image) it does not change product pills. Here is first load view:

This is after clicking on media other than default:

Notice click in brown crayon but pills in red crayon. I even ordered the wrong color for my test run order then I had wanted.

Is there a way to have media selection change product pills? Or should I look to have it coded so that clicking Alt media below just opens pop-up image and only way to change main image is by clicking product pills.

I found a solution that works. In case anyone else find this looking for the same solution, do this

Checking the “Hide other variants” will remove the color thumbnails and basically force the customer to use the product pills to view other options.
