Code for changing Product 'sold out' button to 'pre-order' for Minimal Theme

Hi, Can any one help?

I am using Minimal Theme, and am trying to add in a pre-order product button for some of my products, when they run out of stock; I have read other threads which suggest solutions but none of them have worked with Minimal theme. I can get the pre-order button going, but not as an automatic alternative to the sold out button.

Any advice on the code changing steps I need to follow would be much appreciated!
