Coding Login Page

In our Shopify Store, Wonder theme I used coding to create a login page with an image on the left and the sign in on the right. However, Shopify had me update the accounts to be the new customer accounts and I don’t see any option to switch it back or code that new customer accounts page. Am I missing where that is or am I doing something wrong?

Hi @userr123

Legacy, old accounts are deprecated:

https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/customers/customer-accounts/upgrade

So yeah, not sure if you can customize that how you want it. Default Horizon theme have modal, but for your Woder them best is to ask the theme developers.

If the Legacy Stores are getting deprecated, will the stores that already have the legacy accounts be switched to the new system later in 2026? Part of that article says that “A sunset date for legacy customer accounts will be announced later in 2026.” Is that what that means?

Our store isn’t live. Is possible to upgrade the account or change anything for the account page with this switch?

Yeah it will be announced in 2025 but note that final switch can be at start of 2027 so enough time. Again, best course is to ask theme developers, or fallow changelog.

For example in one of stores I have a message in Settings > Customer accounts, at end “You can revert to legacy customer accounts until March 25, 2026.” with a link to popup form that asks why you want to go back and listing new features.

And no, think this is same for all accounts.

The new customer accounts run on a completely different system that’s way more locked down. You can’t customize them with liquid code like the old login page because they’re hosted separately and use extensibility APIs instead. Are you stuck with the new accounts or can you still switch back in your store settings under customer accounts?

I can switch back but are we all going to be switched to these new accounts soon anyways and should prepare for that for design layout purposes?
