Hi
If I have sub- collections within a collection, what is best practice to ensure good SEO ? I have heard that’s it’s best for SEO to not have sub collections (not a great user experience, though). Is this true and if so, what would you suggest?
The question addresses whether having sub-collections within a collection negatively impacts SEO, despite potentially improving user experience.

While this approach is more tedious to implement (especially at scale), it provides better search engine visibility compared to filtered collections. The platform (Shopify) could potentially improve tooling to make creating related collections easier.

Do you mean a filtered collection? If so, yes, that’s generally not a best practice as they typically aren’t indexable/are non-canonical.
It can be a bit more tedious, but the best course is to make sure all collections are indexable/canonical and have unique titles/h1s/descriptions. This means building distinct collections.
I think Shopify could make it easier to create related collections at scale, but that’s a different discussion. ![]()
