Main issue: Collection changes saved in Shopify admin did not appear on the live storefront. Some pages briefly showed the new items, then reverted to the old view, across multiple devices.
What was tried:
Verified collections/products were published and changes saved; cleared browser cache.
Reviewed theme settings, navigation links, and possible app/custom code conflicts; attempted republishing; tested other browsers/connections.
Shopify Support investigated but couldn’t initially identify the cause.
Resolutions and recent updates:
OP fixed the problem by switching to a newer theme; the outdated theme was causing display issues. Now sees a 1–2 minute delay before changes appear and advises checking collection rules/tags to ensure correct items show.
Another participant’s delay/mismatch was due to the Searchanise app (storefront search/filter). For collection changes to reflect, they must force a re-index in Searchanise (rebuild the app’s data index).
Outcome: Individual issues resolved. Likely causes were an outdated theme or third-party app indexing/caching. Minor propagation delays (1–2 minutes) can occur. No platform-wide bug confirmed; thread effectively concluded.
I was updating some of my collections ( moving items around ) and it looks like it got done on the collection page in shopify but when i go to the actual page on my website it is still the old view? I have tried on several mobile and other computers and it is the same thing. It looks like the page loads the new stuff but it goes back to the old. What can I do to fix this?
In this case, you can try checking your Shopify admin settings to see if the collection is published and the products are active and your new changes have been saved well or not.
In case it still does not work, you can live chat with Shopify Support at https://help.shopify.com/en/support to figure out the root cause of the problem on your website.
Sometimes, your browser may be storing the old version of the webpage. Clearing your browser cache can help ensure you’re viewing the latest version. Try clearing your cache, refreshing the page, and checking if the changes are visible.

If you have made changes to your collections in Shopify, but the updated view is not reflected on your actual website, there are a few things you can try to fix this issue.
Ensure that your theme settings in Shopify are properly configured. Some themes offer options to manage the visibility and order of collections. Double-check whether the changes you made are reflected accurately in the theme settings.
Another possibility is that your collections are not linked to any menu items in your navigation bar. To resolve this, go to the Online Store > Navigation section. Under the Main menu, click on the “Add menu item” button and select “Collection.” Next, choose the desired collection from the dropdown menu and click “Add.”
If you have installed custom code snippets or apps that impact the display of your collections, review them to ensure they are not causing conflicts or overriding your modifications. Temporarily disabling any customizations or apps can help identify if they are causing the issue.
In Shopify, navigate to the collections section and open the collection you have updated. Verify that the changes have been saved correctly. If everything appears as expected, try republishing the collection. This action should update the collection on your website.
Clear your browser’s cache and cookies to force your browser to reload the page from Shopify’s servers, which may include the updated collection.
Experiment with a different web browser. If you are currently using a specific browser, try using an alternative to determine if that resolves the problem.
Ensure you have a strong and stable internet connection. A slow or intermittent connection can prevent the collection from updating properly.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you need any further clarification.
Hi ! Thanks for the reply. I have tried everything you mentioned and nothing works. I have been with shopify support since the morning and they can’t figure it out. I have not changed anything in my theme and have tried uninstalling apps that i recently added and still nothing. Will wait to see what they find but there is something blocking my collection to get updated . Any changes I see in Shopify backend is good but they do not get published or changed on my website. Have been using shopify for a while and never had this issue.
Hey Did you manage to get an answer from Shopify? We’ve recently changed our store’s theme and I’ve noticed that collections don’t seem to update in a timely manner like they used to. They do eventually update, but only hours after the changes have been made, and if I link a new collection to a menu or button on the homescreen it shows me all the products in the store rather than the items in the collection itself
I actually needed to change my theme to get everything to work. My theme
was outdated and certain things were not working properly. Since then i see
a delay when making changes on the website ( 1-2 minutes to see your
changes). Should not be that long…
Make sure that your collection is set up properly with your tags so that
only the collection you are adding is going to show up. I have not had this
issue but sometimes it’s how you created your collection the problem.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for getting back to me! One of my colleagues actually figured out our issue. We’re using the app Searchanise for our search function and filtering, and it turns out that we need to force re-index Searchanise any time we make any changes to a collection.
