Suppose I have a website selling a wide range of product e.g. clothes, kitchen items, pet toys etc. On the main page I obviously don’t want a huge list of pictures showing each item, what I want are clickable pictures for each main category that each take you to another page with sub-categories.
E.g. on the main page I have a picture and a link for “footwear”. I want this to go to another page clickable pictures for types of footwear such as trainers, shoes, walking boots, high heels etc, then each of these goes to a list of products you can buy.
At the moment I just have it so I have one clickable link on the main page for footwear, this this opens a page where literally everything that is footwear is listed within one collection. I think I want I want is to make a collection within a collection but I can’t figure out how to do this. Can anyone help?

First, check your themes visual editors collection templates.. some themes let you feature other collections in theme, or show links/cards, etc to other objects/pages on the site.
Either by picking collections or choosing a navigation menu, etc.
If so you will likely need to setup an alternative template for each collection with it’s own setting of featured-collections, unless a setting is capable of using a dynamic source that you setup with a metafield definition.

In addition to using menus to organized these “sub” collections there are now metafield definitions to make organizing such things easier and expose that info in the collection admin itself instead of being separated in the navigation settings.
