Collective Inventory problem with Markets and Locations

As a Collective supplier with inventory across multiple warehouse locations (e.g., USA and EU), my retailer partners currently see my aggregate inventory across all locations — regardless of which locations can actually fulfill orders to their customers. This means while my USA store is out of stock, my USA-based retailer sees a product as “in stock” when only EU warehouse stock is available, even though I cannot ship from EU to USA. This creates false availability signals, leads to orders I cannot fulfill from the correct region, and damages the retailer and end-customer experience.

Collective users with multiple inventory locations MUST BE ABLE TO assign specific inventory locations to specific price lists in Shopify Collective. Retailers connected to a given price list would only see inventory from the locations mapped to that price list — not aggregate inventory across all locations.

Example use case:

  • Price List A (USA retailers) → syncs inventory only from USA warehouse locations
  • Price List B (EU retailers) → syncs inventory only from EU warehouse locations

We are “this close” to turning off / shutting down our collective partner program because:

  1. We are loosing customers because of canceled / unfulfillable orders.

  2. We are pissing off our collective dealers with false inventory levels.

  3. we have to put in a lot of manual work, just to loose these customers and anger our partners.

PLEASE HELP AND FIX THIS!

I can understand the frustration here. If retailers are seeing aggregated inventory from locations that can’t actually fulfill their orders, it creates a disconnect between availability and fulfillment capability.

In your example, a US retailer should really only see inventory that can be shipped from your US locations. Showing EU inventory as available when it can’t fulfill US orders inevitably leads to canceled orders and a poor experience for both retailers and customers.

Location-specific inventory visibility tied to Collective price lists sounds like a reasonable feature request, especially for suppliers operating in multiple regions. It would allow inventory availability to better reflect real fulfillment constraints rather than total stock across all locations.

Hopefully the Collective team is monitoring feedback like this, as it seems to be a significant limitation for suppliers managing regional inventory.

@Fastmonkey ,

This would be a valuable improvement. Inventory should be synced based on the warehouse locations assigned to each price list, not the total inventory across all locations. That would prevent overselling, reduce canceled orders, and give retailers a much more accurate view of what’s actually available in their region.

It is wild that my google feed, Amazon feed, Walmart feed, etc. all reflect accurate inventory availability, but NOT my Shopify Collective feed.

@Fastmonkey

That definitely sounds frustrating. If your inventory is syncing correctly to Google, Amazon, and Walmart but not Shopify Collective it seems like the issue is specific to how Collective handles inventory rather than your inventory setup itself.

I’d suggest raising it with Shopify Support as it may be a limitation or bug with Collectives inventory sync.

I’ve brought up the issue 2x over the last year to support / developent - just posting here to try to get some traction! Collective is close to being good, but for merchants like us, it’s next to useless.

@Fastmonkey ,

I can understand why you are pushing for more visibility on this. If you have already reported it multiple times and its still affecting order fulfillment its clearly more than a minor inconvenience.

Hopefully if more merchants with multi location inventory share the same feedback Shopify will prioritize improving how Collective handles inventory by location.
