To answer your first question, yes if you update the theme then all the custom coding that was performed on the theme will be removed.

To answer your second question, yes there are a lot of premium themes that have the type of section that you’re looking for, Let me know if you want me to suggest you some.

To answer your third question, I would suggest you to hire a Shopify developer for that as it will require custom coding involved in your theme files who can develop you a section exactly as per your requirements. Feel free to let me know if you want me to help you out in it
