Competitor Price Spy similar to Pricefy

Hello

Can someone recommend a price spy app that actually works with Shopify? We tried Pricefy, but found it unsatisfactory, mainly because it relies on Google for matching, and the matches are often inaccurate. We had to manually match 2,000 SKUs with 5+ competitors, which would take an astronomical amount of time and is simply not cost-effective. They had great support but way too much manual labour for us!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@RayFranchi the hard part is usually not “can I scrape prices?” — it is product matching. If Google matching is giving you bad pairs, I would avoid any workflow that starts with broad search results and then asks you to clean up thousands of SKUs manually.

For Shopify competitors, I’d try a narrower approach first:

  1. Start with your top 50-100 revenue SKUs, not the whole 2,000 item catalog.
  2. For each competitor, check their public /products.json feed and pull title, handle, vendor, variants, SKU if exposed, price, compare-at-price, and availability.
  3. Build confidence scores for matches: exact SKU > exact product URL/handle > normalized title + variant option match. Do not auto-act on low-confidence title-only matches.
  4. Group variants before comparing prices. A “black / medium” variant should not be compared to “black / large.”
  5. Review uncertain matches once, then only alert on changed prices/restocks/new products after the mapping is stable.

That cuts the manual work down because you are not trying to solve every SKU at once, and you are not relying only on Google’s idea of similar products.

You could look at Prisync or Minderest. They generally offer more robust product matching than Google-based approaches and can save a lot of manual work for large catalogs.
