Feedback: Shopify making changes…. It seems like Shopify has been making changes to make the back side cleaner, but they also create more clicks when working in it to do the same work, check the same reports, etc. Please stop making more work for your customers. Some older changes have been excellent. (Example : implementation of photo editing within Shopify) Things like a baseline markup that populates in price box once you input cost would be wonderful. (it would save time when adding products, not add steps).
Agreed! I just posted a topic on this exact issue. The UI team keeps making changes that results in more clicks and more steps to complete a task. Not to mention the time it takes us to re-orient ourselves to the new design.
As business owners, we need to complete tasks as quickly as possible. These changes are costing literally millions of businesses time and money. Very frustrating.
This sounds like a very fair assessment from @nickMahindradirect and I hope more members of the team pick up on it. The goal should always be to shorten the steps and time spent on any task where possible
Why was this post hidden? Shouldn’t all feedback be welcomed?

Shopify is SASS platform the admin will ALWAYS be changing.
The dashboard is a generalized experience for 5+ MILLION merchants it’s not about you.
There is no version freeze system or SLA.
If you don’t want things changed at random times of the day then invest in your actual business.
Build your own dashboards/systems or forever be held hostage to the whims of a publicly traded company.
As simple as using a spreadsheet or some lowcode tool like retool or full blown bespoke apps.
You can either be frustrated and waste time replying to this to uselessly argue against the reality that one company CANNOT do everything for you and you specifically.
OR you can go and build your business for your specific needs.
Search first, it’s a bare minimum to not create useless diaspora , it’s in the rules for a reason.
Then join existing threads on these things, or at least cross reference them.
If you can’t make the bare minimum effort to do any research or to unify with other merchants your just yelling at clouds and doing it mostly alone which is a near daily cliche that accomplishes nothing.
It’s a forum system for someone elses sandbox in the age of LLM AI.
It’s not the town square.
The spam is off the charts, so posts are spam until proven otherwise especially when it’s a common low effort topic.
They really should just tie it to merchants paid account for immediate verification but we don’t live in the world right now.
@PaulNewton It’s interesting that you say Shopify pulled up stakes long ago. Their support pointed me to here to voice concerns, as they said they monitor these forums for issues and suggestions. I realize it is a Software as a service platform. I like Shopify. I want to see it continue to do better, and be more user friendly and help both small and large businesses. Just stop and think about it though. If Amazon made it harder and harder for you to buy things from them, at some point would yo start looking for somewhere else to buy from? I know our team here doesn’t care if a menu looks cleaner, if it takes more clicks and longer to get done what they need to do. It’s regression.
“montior” does not mean engage-with, nor act-upon, it’s vague and unaccountable.
teir0 support appeased you with weasel words and misdirection; if it wasn’t just a bot/boilerplate response.
“monitor” is useless thing for a businesses claim yet never publicly show proof of stats, etc.
Why eat such a line unless you like the taste of hooks.
Bad comparison, wrong side of the analogy.
Amazon HAS specifically made it harder for merchants to do business on the platform; e.g. amazon basics targeting niches they collect merchants business data from, messing with search results etc ad nauseum.
Still big YES, if X did make it harder to use WHY wouldn’t you use something else.
They aren’t making it harder against you specifically so what makes you think they’d make it easier for you specifically.
It’s a tool, make the specific one you need.
But they ARE.
I have been saying for YEARS now that the development team at Shopify are constantly making cosmetic changes - things that change how it looks basically.
These changes have continued to ADD CLICKS to what we could do quicker and more efficiently previously. It’s not helping.
