Connecting instagram to Shopify Collabs error

Topic summary

Issue: Connecting Instagram/Facebook to Shopify Collabs fails despite Meta showing successful linking. Users are redirected to Meta, select their brand page, grant permissions, and see “You’re Now Linked to Shopify Collabs to Facebook,” but Collabs returns: “To connect you must grant Page permissions for at least one Facebook Page.”

Attempts reported:

  • Confirmed Instagram is a professional account (with >1k followers).
  • Cleared cache/history and used incognito mode.
  • Removed and reinstalled Collabs.

Latest update from Shopify support:

  • Developers are actively working on a fix.
  • The issue stems from changed permission requirements on Meta (Facebook/Instagram) side.
  • Instagram and Facebook connections in Collabs are “currently unavailable.”
  • No estimated time for resolution provided.

Status: Ongoing, unresolved. No user-side workaround confirmed. Some participants considering alternatives.

Context notes:

  • “Meta” refers to Facebook, which manages Facebook Pages and Instagram.
  • Shopify Collabs is the Shopify tool for managing influencer/creator partnerships, which relies on these social connections.

Trying to connect our brand’s facebook/insta account to Collabs. I go through steps under “Socials” to connect, get sent to Meta to allow, click on the checkbox next to our Brand’s page, and allow all permissions, and am told that “You’re Now Linked to Shopify Collabs to Facebook”.

When I go back to the Shopify Collabs page though, it doesn’t show a connected account and gives me the error: “To connect you must grant Page permissions for at least one Facebook Page”.

I’ve gone through this process several times, ensuring I’ve selected our brand page, and still the same error message.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks! However I tried all these things and it still gives me the same
error.

  1. our instagram account is a professional account with over 1k followers
  2. cleared history and cache, also tried incognito
  3. removed and reinstalled Collabs

Any other potential solutions?

Same thing happens to me.
and running a search for this issue leads to this page

I have the same thing, has anyone found a way to solve this problem?

This is the reply I just got from Shopify support:

Our developers are working to address this issue, as permission requirements have been changed on the Meta side. The Instagram and Facebook connections in Collabs will show as currently unavailable in the meantime.

They did not provide with time estimation for a fix… I guess I need to search for alternatives.
