I have been selling online through our own websites and online selling venues since 2004. Until recent years we’ve had custom sites built. We’re due an update and want to make some changes that include things like better social media integration and inventory management across various selling platforms like Amazon and etsy, and so I am looking at Shopify as an option.
I’ve read various articles comparing Shopify with other options and I’ve looked through some of the promo materials but there are a few things I need to explore and hope someone can help.
For our size business, I’d be either looking at Shopify (preferred) or Shopify Advanced (but not Plus).
Q1) We make the products that we sell, and we keep some in stock and others are made to order.
This means that some items can be purchased even when inventory = 0.
When new orders come in, we run 2 reports - one is a picking list for packing orders that are ready made; the other is a production list of items that need to be made.
This means we need: a) the ability to still sell an item as a pre-order when inventory is 0, and b) run a custom type report for production.
Is that possible on Spotify without going to Plus level?
Q2) We also have some items with no “add to cart” button. Effectively, the drop downs serve as a price calculator for a product but as they are so customized, it’s just a ballpark estimate and customers need to call for their final estimate after they give us exact details.
Is that kind of thing an option?
Hope my questions are clear enough in explaining the needs.
Thanks!
