Constructive Feedback Before Meta Ads

I have an original character (OC) anime and Japanese clothing brand and I just made tons of changes thanks to using Shopify Sections to pass through the slow website speed. Can you give me some constructive feedback on the entire website in general? If there are small changes I can make, would it be noticeable for potential customers when I use Meta Ads?

Jay Japan

Speaking of Meta Ads, since it’s my first time using Meta Ads, can you please give me some tips and suggestions on how I can use it effectively for my clothing brand? From targeting to creatives.

Thanks for the help as always.

Hello @jay-japan , this is Alexis from Akohub.

I just take a look at your website, and here are some of my thoughts of it:

First, my suggestion would be to simplify the navigation and improve the user experience. Consider adding dropdowns for collections like “Seasonal Favorites” or “Best Sellers.” Additionally, website speed is critical, especially since you’re doing Meta Ads. Make sure your images are optimized for faster loading times using tools like TinyPNG or Shopify’s compression features. Adding trust elements, such as customer reviews or testimonials on product pages, can also build credibility. Lastly, try testing different call-to-action phrases like “Own It Today” or “Explore the Collection” instead of just “Shop Now” to make the buttons more engaging.

As for Meta Ads, start by targeting lookalike audiences based on your existing customer base. Focus on regions with a strong appreciation for anime culture. For ad creatives, carousel ads are a great way to showcase multiple products, combining lifestyle shots (e.g., someone wearing your designs) with close-ups. In your ad copy, tell your story, something like, “Experience the fusion of anime and Japanese tradition with our exclusive Sakura Collection.”

Retargeting is also key. Have you thought of running retargeting ads? It helps to bring back visitors who didn’t convert the first time around. Show them the products they viewed along with a small discount as this can be super effective for turning “maybe” into “yes!” If you’re looking for an all-in-one solution, our app, Ako Retargeting, combines retargeting with loyalty and CRM features, helping you bring in new customers and keep them coming back. You can try setting up ads to reach visitors who added items to their cart but didn’t check out, and incentivize them with a small discount, like “10% off if you complete your purchase within 24 hours.” Finally, start with a modest ad budget (e.g., $5–$10 per day) to test different audiences and creatives before scaling successful campaigns.

If you’d like more specific guidance or support, feel free to ask. Your site has great potential, and I’m confident these changes can help drive more traffic and conversions. Best of luck!

Yeah I would love to have some feedback on my store.

Hi @jay-japan , I’m Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

First off, congratulations on building such an incredible website! It’s clear that you’ve invested a lot of effort into making your store look professional, with beautiful products and a seamless shopping experience. You’ve created a solid foundation that gives your brand a competitive edge. Now, as you venture into Meta Ads, there’s a critical need to approach it with the right mindset, especially since it’s a data-driven game requiring strategy, patience, and resources.

Your website already demonstrates a high level of polish, but here are a few adjustments to further optimize its performance:

1/ Mobile optimization:
Since most of your audience will likely browse on mobile, ensure all design elements are perfectly responsive. Test button placements, navigation ease, and image loading speeds on various devices to ensure a flawless mobile experience. For example, when browsing this on mobie, I immediately can tell that the menu button is too large and need to improve so it won’t disturb the customers.

2/ Enhance product page

  • Variant selection: Make it easier for users to select size, color, or style. Clear, clickable options like swatches or dropdowns improve the shopping experience
  • Zoom features: Add the ability for customers to zoom in on images to inspect details. This builds confidence, especially for fashion items
  • Model showcase: Consider hiring models to showcase your products in lifestyle shots. Seeing how your clothing looks when worn adds authenticity and appeal

Suggestion on Meta Ads
Meta Ads is driven by machine learning and AI, thrives on data—a lot of it and the right kind. Here’s how this works:

1/ The role of data

For Facebook’s AI to optimize ad delivery and identify potential buyers accurately, it needs substantial data about your audience and their behaviors. This data is generated over time through ad performance. Without enough data, even the best products and creative assets will struggle to convert, as Facebook’s AI won’t know who to promote your ads to.

2/ How to build data?

  • Start small, scale gradually: Begin by running smaller campaigns to test audiences, creatives, and placements. Use these learnings to refine your strategy.
  • Focus on broad audiences initially: Allow Facebook’s AI to explore and learn from larger audiences. Narrowing down too quickly may restrict data collection.

3/ To start:

  • Running multiple camp and test: Begin with modest budgets and run A/B tests to identify the best-performing creatives, audiences, and placements. This ensures you get valuable insights without overspending.
  • Address the Lack of Reviews: A new store without customer reviews may face challenges in converting ads into sales. Consider offering incentives, such as discounts or loyalty points, to early customers who leave reviews.
  • Craft engaging creatives: Use vibrant visuals like carousel ads or videos showcasing your OC and products. Videos featuring models wearing your clothing in anime-inspired settings will appeal to your niche.
Write compelling ads such as: “Unleash your inner anime character with exclusive Japanese streetwear. Shop now!”

While Meta Ads can drive traffic, converting new audiences takes time—especially for a new brand without a strong base of existing customers or reviews. To grow your audience and establish credibility faster, affiliate marketing can be an strategy that I would suggest.

Affiliate marketing involves partnering with influencers, bloggers, or content creators who promote your products to their audiences in exchange for a commission on sales. This approach helps you reach potential customers through trusted recommendations while keeping upfront costs low.

1/ Why it works:

Affiliates already have established audiences who trust their recommendations. For your anime and Japanese clothing brand, collaborating with anime influencers or Japanese fashion bloggers can quickly expose your products to an engaged community.

2/ How to start:

  • Identify creators in your niche and reach out with a compelling pitch about your brand. Offer them a clear commission structure and provide promotional materials like images, discount codes, or exclusive collections.
  • Use Shopify affiliate apps like Refersion to manage your program efficiently.

Your store is already off to an impressive start. With further refinement, you’ll be well-equipped to grow your audience and boost sales. Building a brand takes patience, but your dedication and creativity set you apart. Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance!

Hi @jay-japan

I took a look at your website, Jay Japan, and I must say, it’s got a unique vibe that stands out. The blend of original anime designs with Japanese streetwear is a niche that can attract a dedicated audience.

Website Feedback:

  1. Homepage Layout: The homepage is visually appealing, but consider adding a clear call-to-action (CTA) above the fold. Something like “Explore Our Latest Collection” can guide visitors to start shopping immediately.
  2. Product Images: High-quality images are crucial for online shopping. Ensure all product photos are clear, well-lit, and showcase different angles. This helps customers get a better feel of the products.
  3. Loading Speed: While you’ve made improvements using Shopify Sections, it’s essential to regularly test your site’s loading speed. Tools like Google’s PageSpeed Insights can offer suggestions for further optimization.
  4. Mobile Optimization: With many users shopping on mobile devices, ensure your website is fully responsive. Navigate through your site on various devices to check for any inconsistencies.

Meta Ads Tips:

  1. Targeting: Given your niche, focus on interests like anime, Japanese culture, and streetwear fashion. Utilize Meta’s Lookalike Audiences feature to reach potential customers similar to your existing ones.
  2. Ad Creatives: Use high-quality visuals that reflect your brand’s unique style. Short videos or carousel ads showcasing your products in real-life scenarios can be very engaging. Remember, emotion-driven ads often outperform rational ones.
  3. Ad Copy: Keep your messaging concise and aligned with your brand’s voice. Highlight what sets your products apart, and always include a clear CTA, like “Shop Now” or “Discover the Collection.”
  4. Budgeting: Start with a modest budget and test different ad sets. Monitor their performance and allocate more funds to the top-performing ones. Regularly reviewing and adjusting your strategy is key.
  5. Engagement: Respond promptly to comments and messages on your ads. Engaging with your audience builds trust and can lead to higher conversion rates.

Embarking on Meta Ads is an exciting journey. With thoughtful targeting and compelling creatives, you’re well on your way to boosting your brand’s visibility and sales.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to help.

Best regards,

Daisy
