Hi I am new from 20 years with Wordpress and other CMS systems.

I have read many support articles from years and there is no solution to this, just like our shipping problem shopify does not work out of the box

Please see my screenshot, there is a lot of wasted space on the left of the editor and the right side bar

The company does not want to install pagefly or something because so many apps cost money, a gross difference from free wordpress plugins

Can someone please help me ? Thanks

Having an aversion to apps that are made to literally solve specific problems is a good way to lose money and be punished by severe opportunity costs.

There is CSV upload for products upload, edit the content externally then upload.

There’s an api they can’ make their own app.

Or even try making a browser extension/user-scripts/user-styles to have a different editor and or modify the pages CSS styles.

Shopify is an ecommerce platform for business for millions of merchants all with different needs and opinions about what “out of the box” even means..

Such areas of the admin are a starting point for general use case.

Shopify does vastly different things from wordpress.

The comparison to wordpress plugins is a false premise and thought terminating cliche that only undermines getting things done under some weird expectation it’s another companies responsibility to do everything.

And that’s not even considering all the free shopify apps that are available that further disprove such entitlement.

Are they are real business or not, it takes money to make money.

Get them to be grounded to reality: they want to optimize their processes they should use the tools and services available to do so.

One platform cannot be all things to all people; any sentiment that tries to argue so is a delusional entitlement to something that will never exist.

Make sure to file a feature request with shopify support directly to either:

  • improve the layout space of the rich text editor in the pages admin
  • or meta issue - improve the ability for merchants/staff to customize such things in the admin with CSS and or liquid etc.

thanks how do I make a feature request ?

I have a workaround with stylebot chrome extension for now

I have contacted support to make a feature request, they are surprised no one has over the years, there are a lot of support threads requesting this feature
