Continue Selling When Out Of Stock Not Working?

Hello all, I am getting an issue where I do not track quantity and I Continue Selling When Out Of Stock, but when I go to checkout I am getting an inventory error.

The only thing that has fixed this is when I switch inventory tracking from ‘main’ to ‘fulfillment.’ Even when I try adding and tracking quantity and don’t sell when out of stock, I am getting the same message.

This is happening to every product so I assume I’ve set something up incorrectly or can’t find a setting I need to switch?

Can you clarify the part about “switch inventory tracking from ‘main’ to 'fulfillment”?

Under Inventory on a product there is an Edit Locations button. If I set to Fulfillment it works.
