Contractor put themself as ownership rites in google console

Topic summary

Contractor appears to have added themselves as a verified user in Google Search Console (GSC) for a Shopify site without the owner’s consent.

Evidence: the contractor shared a screenshot showing “impressions” data that comes from GSC; upon checking, the owner found the contractor had permission. The owner suspects verification was done via an HTML tag added to the Shopify homepage.

Attempted action: the owner tried to remove the contractor’s access in GSC but received a message (details not provided); an image is attached and central to understanding the issue.

Context: GSC is Google’s tool for tracking site search performance. “Ownership/verification” grants control/visibility and can be established via HTML tag, uploaded file, or DNS record.

Request: guidance to remove the contractor’s verification from the homepage and reinstate the owner’s access/ownership.

Status: no resolution yet; key open question is how to revoke the contractor’s verification and re-verify the legitimate owner in GSC.

Hello,

Bit worried and stressed when I discovered that the contractor i was trying out put themselves on my google console without my knowledge! I became suspicious when he sent me a screen grab with impressions which could only have come from my google console. I asked he denied but when I logged on I saw him had permission. He may have done this within my shopify store in the homepage HTML page! I am not sure. When I tried to remove him I got this message.

I want to remove him from my homepage an re-instate myself but am unsure how to do this. Can I have some help from shopify to please help with this. Please help.
