Cookie consent banner is popping up on every new page opened in Safari regardless of permissions

Hi all

My Shopify cookie consent banner suddenly started malfunctioning in Safari today.

It works totally fine in Chrome and on IOS Safari. But on MacOS and iPadOS Safari, the cookie consent banner pops up every time you open a new page, regardless of whether you accept or deny permission.

It’s happening on two separate devices, and I didn’t t manually update or change anything leading up to it starting happening. My theme is Dawn, pretty much vanilla.

Shopify customer services are looking into it, but is anyone else having the same issue? Any solutions?

I have the same problem since 3 days. Before it worked just fine.

I decided on a temporary workaround to this problem installing the Pandectes app from the Shopify app store, choosing the free plan. It works, but the free plan doesn’t offer an option to withdraw consent as per GDPR laws, except for by a floating cookie icon, which is not great.
