You can choose to make the shipping address phone number field a required selection in the Shopify settings under the “Checkout Customer Information” section.
Goal: populate the main contact (customer info) phone number with the shipping address phone number collected at checkout.
Context: The shipping phone is already required via Checkout Customer Information settings, but Shopify does not automatically sync it to the customer contact phone field.
Discussion: A suggestion to make the shipping phone required didn’t address the core issue. No native Shopify setting or built-in method was identified to copy the shipping phone into the contact phone.
Outcome: The poster implemented a workaround using Zapier (a third‑party automation tool) to transfer the shipping address phone number to the main contact phone field.
