I need some help!
Once anyone clicks on my Instagram icon in the footer, the user will leave my website and the instagram page is open instead.
I would like that once someone clicks on the IG icon, a new tab opens, leaving them with both my website page and my Instagram page.
How can I do this?

This is Richard from PageFly - Landing page builder, I’d like to suggest this idea:
Step 1: Go to Online Store->Theme->Edit code
Step 2: Section->/header.liquid
Step 3: Find “settings.social_instagram_link” → and add target=“blank” attribute in . tag:
{%- render 'icon-instagram' -%}
{{ 'general.social.links.instagram' | t }}

Sorry for the confusion here.
Instead of using target=“blank” you can change it back to target=“_blank”
{%- render 'icon-instagram' -%}
{{ 'general.social.links.instagram' | t }}

I touch the icon and the Instagram page is loaded instead of opening in a new tab…

Yes, the icon is there but if you click on it it will open the Instagram page and leave my website - which is what I don’t want. What I want is that a new tab opens but my website stays where it is.

I hope this issue is resolved for you already, but just in case, this is how Shopify support helped me. HERE
Where it says: “1. In your Shopify Admin go to online store > themes > actions > edit code” actions means “…” next to the Customize button.
I don’t think it matters but I am using Dawn.

This is still not solved and tried to follow your steps but CRAFT theme doesn’t have the body in the way it was presented so I rather not touch any code

Unless you have made changes yourself, there should be no difference to how liquid should end for either Dawn or Craft. I made a video, I hope this helps.
