Create an invoice where the customer can add more options

Topic summary

Main issue: Migrating from Square to Shopify while retaining Square’s “Checkout Link” functionality that lets a seller send a one-off payment link with selectable add-ons (modifiers) for unique, one-of-a-kind products.

Context and needs:

  • Products are individually unique; seller wants a custom link per customer that includes a base item/price plus optional add-ons (e.g., “add a cover,” “custom engraving”) at preset amounts.
  • Goal is to let the buyer choose these add-ons at checkout via dropdowns or buttons, without building a full product catalog.

Key terms:

  • Checkout Link: a shareable payment link for a specific product/price.
  • Modifiers: add-on options or up-sell items the buyer can include during checkout.

Latest update: Another participant asked whether a solution was found, indicating ongoing interest.

Outcome/status: No solution or workaround was provided in the thread. The question remains open and unresolved.

I’m moving over from Square to shopify. Square is garbage but the one feature I do like is their “Checkout Link”. The products I sell are individually unique, every one is different. With square I’d create a checkout link that had the product name, and price I set, but also had the options to add “modifiers” or additional up-sale products. The customer could add more products to the custom checkout link at checkout.

So the question is, can I create a checkout link that is only sent to one person, and they can add things from a drop down or buttons or something to their sale? Example would be: Customer is buying a Custom Knife, the price is $100 but during checkout they can “add a cover” or “add custom engraving to this order” which would be a preset amount.
