Create Staging Environment to build new store design

Hi there,

I am working with a client to design a new store for them. They are already live on Shopify (not Plus) with hundreds of products.

I have bought a theme which I will use as the basis of the new design. I don’t feel comfortable uploading the theme to the live environment and just previewing changes - I would much rather create a staging environment or a clone to work from.

I created a partner account and tried to add a store - but its not working despite the shop URL being correct (maybe its because my partner account email is the same email that is an admin on the live store?)

Screenshots below. Can anyone please provide the best solution for me to create a clone / staging environment? Its a little baffling to me that this doesn’t exist or an app doesn’t exist to support this.

Hi!

By the look of it, that URL already exists so it won’t let you create it under that name, try adding ‘-staging’ to the end and see if it lets you create the store
