Creating a File Upload Button under a product.

Topic summary

A user running Dawn 10 theme seeks help adding a file upload feature for custom products, noting that existing tutorials only cover older theme versions.

Suggested Solutions:

  • Dedicated apps: UploadKit, Tsunami Personalize on Demand, and other file upload apps from the Shopify App Store allow customers to upload files directly on product pages with configurable rules for file types and sizes.

  • Embedded upload services: Using apps like EmbedAny to embed Google Drive, Dropbox, or cloud storage upload links, though this approach doesn’t automatically link uploads to specific orders.

  • Form-based approach: Embedding custom forms (Google Forms, Typeform, Jotform) via EmbedAny enables customers to provide order details alongside file uploads, making it easier to match submissions with orders.

The user also asked about moving the navigation header to the left side instead of across the top. One responder suggested checking theme settings first, noting that code editing may be required if the option isn’t available in the header customization settings.

The discussion remains open with no confirmed solution implemented yet.

Hi!

I am currently using Dawn 10 and trying to create an area where people can upload files so I can sell custom products. I watched so many videos yet they all only seemed to be based on the older versions so they didn’t end up working. Can anyone help?

I was also wondering if anyone knew how to put the navigation header on the left side and not across the tip.

Thanks so much.

Hi, @Mcool1236 . Rio here from the Shopify Community team.

To create an area where people can upload files for custom products, you can use an app like UploadKit, Tsunami Personalize on Demand Tsunami, or other file upload apps. These apps allow customers to upload files directly on the product page, and you can set up rules for file types, sizes, and more. You can also use form builder apps to create a custom form where customers can upload files and provide additional information.

Regarding your second question, the navigation header can be moved to the left side by editing your theme’s code if it’s not available in the theme settings. Did you already check your theme settings in the header section to see if you can customize it?

For your personalized product, consider offering a discount or special promotion for customers who upload files for custom products. This can incentivize them to make a purchase and also encourage them to share their experience with others, potentially leading to more sales.

For your first concern, is it a case where you create custom hats, for example, and people submit a drawing that they want on the rug, and you create the custom rug?

Also, what have you already tried to do to solve this?

Hey @Mcool1236 ,

If you need a file upload button under a product on Shopify, there are a couple of easy ways to do it—no complicated coding required.

Option 1: Embed a File Upload Service

Using EmbedAny, you can add a file upload option by embedding a Google Drive, Dropbox, or any cloud storage upload link. Customers can upload files directly, but keep in mind that Shopify won’t automatically link uploads to specific orders.

Option 2: Embed a Custom Form with Upload Feature

A better way? Embed a form (Google Forms, Typeform, Jotform, etc.) right under your product using EmbedAny. Customers can enter their name, order number, and upload their file in one go. This way, you can easily match the upload with their order.
